Just put the final touches on my sister’s Forest Fairytale Mittens so that I can pop them in the mail this morning. Took a little longer than it should have to complete this project but I’ve been on a major gardening/landscaping binge since March. Now that all the plants are in and thriving, I’m back on the needles and on a mission to finish up my unfinished projects!
The impetus for this particular project was my sister’s desire for a pair of mittens to match her winter coat and hand-painted Anushka purse. As luck would have it, I had some yarn on hand (Greenwood Fiberworks Star Dust in Arcade) that turned out to be a close match for many of the colors in the purse and paired it with HiKoo Amerian B.R.A.N.D. in 101 Wind Cave. While looking for a suitable pattern, I came across the lovely Forest Fairytail Mittens by Natalia Moreva.
She also wanted an idiot string for her mittens so I made a 60″ two-stitch I-cord and attached them to the mittens.
Overall, I’m happy with the results and hope my sister enjoys them this winter!
